Used this plugin. It’s awesome. Thanks!

• Lorilaws1

I hope you can help. I’ve switched to WordPress (I’ve used Blogger for 3 years). I used this plugin to try to import my Blogger Posts. It didn’t import any posts. However, when you type in my Blogger URL (lorilaws.com), it does redirect to my new WordPress URL(lorilawspersevere.com). I need my posts to also be redirected. What am I doing wrong? Thanks, Lori

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

First thing is that you need to change the permalink structure to a custom value(Settings > permalink )
/%year%/%monthnum%/%postname%.html

second is that the plugin best works if you have imported your post using the blogger import plugin (Tools >Import > Blogger)

• Eyeswiseopen

Hi there

I have just installed wp for the first time so a wp virgin here…
I would like to import the few blog posts I posted in blogger to my hosted site.

Since this was a new installation I used the latest wp version 3.1.3. I discovered ‘blogger import’ from tools but it states it is Requires WordPress Version: 3.0 or higher but also that it is Compatible up to v 3.0.5.

This is confusing… I kept looking and found your plug in… And here I read your advice above that I will still need ‘blogger import’…

I will be most interested to know, what would be the best way to go forward?
there seems to be little to no info on the issue of compatibility…

many thanks in advance
best
EyesWiseOpen.com

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

The blogger import plugin is compatible with wordpress version 3.1.3. So you don’t have worry and you can safely import using this plugin.

• Eyeswiseopen

Many thanks for your reply. While waiting to hear back I did just that. It imported the title date and categories BUT not the actual content of the posts…
Maybe this is what it is designed to do? Not sure?

Luckily my blogger is newish and I had only under 30 posts to copy over…

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

Well if you want to change the content then you can do that after importing in your new wordpress blog. But if you just copy paste content then it will be difficult for any plugin to automatically detect 301 redirect. I suggest that you import the posts first and then change the contents. And also recommend that you use parmalink finder plugin with Blogger 301 redirect and set display 404 errors if post not found.

• Anonymous

Used the plugin and works well — Thanks!
The only issue I have right now is that when I installed the plugin, the site was hosted on www1.examplesite.com but now that has been changed to http://www.examplesite.com. However, when I redirect, it still redirects to www1.examplesite.com/blogpostabc/ vs. http://www.examplesite.com/blogpostabc/.

Is there a place where I can manually change this setting? Or do I need to uninstall the plugin and then reinstall?

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

Hi Thomas,
First of all thanks for using the plugin.
Can you give me a real URL of your site and the URL where it should get redirected to, so that I can check what going wrong

If you changed the site URL then you need to change the template to that you have put in the blogger with the newly generated template which you can get from Option page of Blogger 301 Redirect

• Anonymous

Thanks for the quick reply!
Trying to redirect from blog.meteorsolutions.com to http://www.meteorsolutions.com/blog.

Using this post from blogger: http://blog.meteorsolutions.com/2011/02/bing-now-integrating-facebook-like-data.html to test redirection.

When the plugin was installed, the new blog site was on web4.meteorsolutions.com. We’ve since moved it out of development and published live to http://www.meteorsolutions.com. However, when you go to an old post from blogger (blog.meteorsolutions.com), it redirects to web4.meteorsolutions.com and not http://www.meteorsolutions.com.

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

you are required to change the template of your blogger with the new template that you can get from the plugin options. The template is generated dynamically taking in consideration to the URL to which you want to get redirected to. Just change the template and your blogger site will start getting redirected to http://www.meteorsolutions.com.

• Anonymous

Yes, that is how I was able to initiate the Blogger redirect in the first place — got the new template code from the plugin settings page in WP. I guess I need to figure out 1. how your plugin function is building the redirect URL and/or 2. how wordpress is defining the the site’s domain/home URL. Any insight into these two points would be helpful.

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

This is how the plugin works.
1. The template code of blogger redirects the requested URL to your new WordPress site where you imported the posts.
like – yoursite.blogspot.com/post_url => your_wp_site.com/?br=yoursite.blogspot.com/post_url
2. The blogger 301 redirect plugin the phrases the URL and redirects it to the corresponding URL from the new site.

good stuf here

• http://www.emmacossey.co.uk Emma Cossey

Hi! Great tool, and works on one of my posts but not most of the others. I transferred my posts over first then found the plugin. Could that be where I’m going wrong? My blogger url was http://randombloggingsofawannabe.blogspot.com and my new one is http://www.emmacossey.com.

It took ages to sort out all the posts, so I’d rather not do that again :)

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

did you use the blogger import plugin to import your blog? Did you change the template on your blogger blog with the template generated by the Blogger 301 Plugin?

• http://www.emmacossey.co.uk Emma Cossey

Hi, yes to both.

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

Then I suggest you use one more plugin along with this plugin “Permalink Finder”

• http://www.emmacossey.co.uk Emma Cossey

Thank you so much, it works!

• http://twitter.com/tokoo ToKo

Hey, I’m currently trying to migrate from Blogger to WordPress.

I replaced the Blogger Template with the text that showed up in the textbox (<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" lang="en" dir="”> ……… and so on) but Blogger responded with an error: ” The value of attribute “dir” associated with an element type “null” must not contain the ‘<' character."

Do you have any idea whats the problem and how to handle it?

Thanks for the plugin in anyway!

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

what is your blogger site URL

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

I think you are not using the template generated by the plugin on your blogger site. Or you must have revert it back?

• http://twitter.com/tokoo ToKo

I did the wrong revert before. Worked for me now, thanks for your help!

• Eracer

I redirected a blogger blog to my wordpress blog successfully. But i’m having one issue. At the same time, i changed my wordpress from a sub domain to the direct domain. Was blog.eldridgeracing.com now eldridgeracing.com. When the pages redirect from blogger, they are still loading my sub domain pages. blog.eldridgeracing.com. How do i get them to point to my normal domain pages?

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

You need to change the blogger template again. The template contains the site URL where it needs to be redirected. Now that you have changed the site URL ie moved form subdomain to main domain, you need to change the template from the mains domains blogger 301 redirect option page to the your blogger blog

• Eracer

I did exactly that. That’s what i was thinking was happening. But it didn’t solve the issue. All links are heading to the main domain and then take some sort of bounce.
Is there anything that the program may have cached from when i first installed it? Or could this have to do with the guid links in the wp_posts database? the guid still list the sub domain. I haven’t found a safe way to batch update those. I’m also worried if i do update them that feed burner will resend all my posts to my subscribers.

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

First of all check that all links in the template generated is to your domain and not to your subdomain. This you can do by simply copying the template to a notepad and doing a search replace.
This program don’t cache anything so if you have a cache plugin installed then just clear that once. you can change your feedburner account to point to your wordpress feeds

• Rob

All posts just redirect to my homepage… Any ideas why?

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

The plugin is unable to link the posts and you have selected the option to redirect to homepage if post is not found. I suggest t deactivate this option and use one more plugin (permalink finder) with this plugin.

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

can you post your site link. (both blogger blog and wordpress)

Hi, Thank you so much for this plugin and easy to follow instructions. It worked perfectly on my blog!

• Sandra Roberts

Hi,
I’ve migrated from blogger to wordpress. I read everything for redirection and did all of them, including the premalink finder. Search bots still can’t find my archives and a few posts though. My links have always been http://www.bargains4wahms.com I even have it so if you type bargains4wahms.com it still directs you to http://www.bargains4wahms.com Can you please help me get things right?

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

well try out this third plugin “REDIRECTION” along with blogger 301 redirect and permalink finder. In this you can set redirection rules for single pages. If you do not have a page for the link then redirect it to home page.

Blogger 301 redirection + Permalink Finder + Redirection= 99% redirection

I installed blogger 301, Permalink Finder and Redirection. I do have a bit of a problem as I don’t understand the Redirection plugin at all. What am I suppose to do with this plugin? How do I set up the links to be redirected? Mostly have a problem with archives from blogger. I really dislike crawlers because they are totally messing up my blogging stats! :(

• http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=619357972 Sandra Roberts

Ok so I think, not completely sure but I did try to redirect links on redirection by putting the archve link google bot can’t find and then putting the target link below it. It seems to work! I hope these are the last of my problems. My PR is a 3/10 and I really don’t want to loose that, but I know if bots can’t find pages that will make my rank go down and I just came up to a 3. lol Thanks for the help! I’ve bookmarked your page to pass on to friends and just in case I need more help, hopefully this solved the problem. :)

Everything from 2009 and earlier is not being redirected to the specific post but to my main page. What can I do?

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

use permalink finder plugin along with this plugin. Also uncheck the option “Redirect to homepage if page not found”

See if that helps

• http://chloeofthemountain.com/ Chloe

I had to change my profile so you can find me.

I’m using this program and the 3rd test link isn’t redirected to specific posts but back to the main page. Can I fix this?

• Christina’s Adventures

Thanks for the tutorial…but I have 755 subscribers (originally subscribed to my Blogger blog) that aren’t receiving my new posts from my WordPress site through their readers. My old site was christinasadventures2010.blogspot.com and my new site is christinasadventures.com

Can you help?! I spent many hours yesterday trying to figure this out, and I’m at a standstill now :(

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

you need to login to your feedburner account and change the feed URL source to http://christinasadventures.com/feed

• Christina’s Adventures

I actually didn’t have an official Feedburner account until the other day…so I set it up for christinasadventures.com I never made one for the Blogspot address…so now I don’t know how to change that…help?

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

If you were not using feedburner then how were your subscribers receiving email updates. I mean you must have been using some service to let your readers subscribe using email.

• Christina’s Adventures

They subscribed through the actual Blogger service.

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

Thought I am not that much familiar with blogger blogs but I never saw any default subscribe by email option in blogger. Can you post an image so that I can identify what you are talking about

• Christina’s Adventures

Not sure how to post an image on this comment…but if you click on this link…it’s a blogger blog that has the option of “follow” in the top left…that’s how many people subscribed to my site (this isn’t my website I’m directing you to) http://andthisismyheart.blogspot.com/

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

Ok now I understand. That is Google friends connect. Follow this article and you will be able to move your friends connect to wordpress.

• Christina’s Adventures

Sorry to be a pain…but those GFC followers STILL aren’t getting my feeds! I have the box correctly installed on my new WP account (christinasadventures.com) and when I post a new post…none of them get the new posts through their readers :(

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

No, won’t receive auto updates regarding new posts. But there is an option in google friends connects to send newsletters. You can use that to notify your GFC subscribers

• Christina’s Adventures

OK – thank you SO much…I really appreciate your help!

• http://www.superfinefeline.com Superfinefeline

Thanks Sudipto for the plug-in. After using the 301 redirect, I still find that my old blog address shows up in Google searches even though I have already selected in Blogger for the pages not to be indexed. Can you please help? My old site was: http://www.superfinefeline.blogspot.com and my new site is http://www.superfinefeline.com. I have been trying to troubleshoot for weeks now but I still can’t seem to figure it out.

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

Already indexed pages before migration will show up and it will slowly be removed. This process takes time other wise why will you be needing a blogger redirect plugin.

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

The redirection plugin is only for the posts and not pages. you need to set redirection manually for every pages that you have(use redirection plugin).. On my next update I will add the redirection of pages functionality to this plugin

• http://www.everythingmatterstoday.com Eric Evans

I’m thoroughly impressed with your plugin, but I do have one question. Is there a way to keep the .html off of the WordPress urls? My wife’s blog has already been crawled and cached by google with the urls without .html on the end. I don’t want to lose any traffic from those links. Thanks!

Eric

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

please use permalink finder plugin along with this plugin. All your non .html links will be redirected properly to the .html version

Thanks!

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

Its not all a problem of this plugin. There are some security on your server for which its giving that error. You need to contact your hosting provider for this

• http://www.christianprayersdaily.com Christianprayersdaily

Thank you, thank you, thank you! This plugin plus the documentation that you included with it solved my redirect problem on my small blog that I moved over to WordPress to practice for the big move…. Yea! Now I can make the big move confident that it will work!

• Anonymous

Thanks!

• Allan Tribe

Thanks for the plugin. It works great for everything except blogger pages.
I’ve already redirected the site http://www.one-little-minute.com to http://www.onelittleminuteblog.com. However the page http://www.one-little-minute.com/p/project-baby.html isn’t redirecting. Could you help me figure this out?

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

First of all check if the page exists in your blogger blog. Normally this error is shown if the page has been deleted from your blogger blog. Its important that all posts and pages stays in your blogger blog and should never be deleted. If the page is missing in your blogger blog then create a blank page with the same title so the the URL remains the same. This should solve the problem

• Allan Tribe

The page exists when I upgraded to the new blogger interface. But I couldn’t find the pages option in the old interface. Does the same apply to the classic template vs upgraded template?

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

Click on “Try the updated Blogger interface” link at the top. Select your blog there you will get the option to create pages

• Anonymous

I’ve narrowed it down to a template issue. On the classic template static pages don’t show up. On the upgraded template the pages show up. Is there a way to do the redirect on the upgraded template?

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

I haven’t worked on the redirection part on the upgraded template as of yet…. :(

• Guest

But still return 200 http header for bots

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

and where are you checking that???

• Mitch

The plugin works great. However, I want to redirect the blooger website to a category page on WordPress.

For example: dtnews.com/gossip
not dtnews.com

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

this plugin works only for the root install of wordpress. so say you want to import all your blogger post to dtnews.com/gossip then all you need to do is install a fresh copy of wordpress in a directory gossip in your root folder. This way you will be able to easily import your posts and redirect them from blogger to wordpress using this plugin

• Per Zennström

Hello there and thanks for a great plug-in…
Works perfectly !

• http://twitter.com/bulkmailscams Bulk Mail

I have installed and used this plug-in now for going on four months. I see that my blogger posts are slowly being removed from Google and all posts at the redirected site are indexed. I see from log files that the number of redirects coming from the old site is <10 a week. At what point is it safe to say things are good and I can close down the old blogger and uninstall the plugin? It's nothing personal :-) I just don't like having plugins installed when they are not necessary.

Thanks for a good job!

• http://twitter.com/bulkmailscams Bulk Mail

First, this plugin has been great and has done what it was intended to do. Thansk for that, and well done.

Any thoughts on when you can safely remove the plugin? I’ve had it in place for about four months now – I am down to 7 indexed pages on the old blogger site, and they are old posts that generate zero new traffic. A check of the log files show very minimal redirects from blogger now — what redirects there are come from the old blogger post tags.

It’s been a great tool for migrating my blogger to WordPress, I just don’t like to keep a plugin installed that is no longer contributing.

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

This plugin gives the ability to monitor the number of hits from old blogger. If you think that the hits are too low and it will not affect your site if you loose those traffic, then you can safely remove the plugin. All redirects from your blogger blog will be generate a 404 error after you remove the plugin

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

can you post your site links both the blogger and the wordpress

• http://eclectablog.com Eclectablog

I have installed this plugin on eclectablog.com (a new WordPress blog) and installed the code in my old blogger blog (eclectablog.blogspot.com). Oddly, going from old blogspot url posts changes them back to the old blogger format so I get a 404 error. Can you help?

• http://eclectablog.com Eclectablog

I have followed the instructions scrupulously as I migrated eclectablog.blogspot.com to eclectablog.com (on WordPress). However, old blogspot urls change to the old style of the url so a 404 error results. Can you help?

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

you need to again change the blogger template. when you last generated the code it was for the temporary URL of bluehost for your site. now you need to regenerate the template code on eclectablog.com then copy that to the blogger blog

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

check the option display 404 error and do not redirect to homepage from the 301 blogger redirect plugin and install permalink finder plugin. That should solve the problem regarding the homepage redirect problem for your blogger posts

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

if you are still getting hits on your blogger blog then its better to use this plugin. It will redirect your traffic on your blogger blog to wordpress blog

• Bala

Its a fantastic plug-in. I was struggling for a while to do this and your plug-in worked like a charm. Thanks!

• Mltsia

good day i have a blogspot which has a custom domain name, im planning to change to wordpress with a new domain name, is this ok for 301 redirect?

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

if you are already using a custom domain name on your blogger blog then you donot need any kind of redirection plugin. All you need is Permalink finder plugin.

• http://www.techblaster.net/ Techmaker

I installed
Permalink finder plugin. But it is not working on my blog while I am trying to redirect archives of my previous blog (blogger with custom domain) to new blog (wordpress with same custom domain) . Is there any other plugin to do this?

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

There are ways to redirect your archive your wordpress site. But why do you want to do it. I have migrated many blogs from blogger to wordpress and they hardly get any traffic to the blogger archives. You can simply ignore them.

• sunyata84

Hi,

My archives from blogger do not redirect either. Are you saying that this doesnt really matter?

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

the process of de-indexing of your blogspot URL will take time. It take months to get your site totally deindexed by search engines. redirect checkers may not be able to find the type of redirect because there is no way that you will be able to set a 301 redirect on the blogspot. on blogspot its just a normal redirect either using meta refresh or using java. On the wordpress site the redirect is treated as a 301 redirect.

• http://Technopsisblog.com/ Technopsis

Thanks for the response! I guess I just have to be patient. My old URL is still redirecting organic search results to my new blog, but the new one is hardly getting any. I hope google finds the new page more interesting soon! :)

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

it take few months before search engines will deindex your older url and add the URLs of your new site

Hello! Having some trouble. I have the classic template on my old blog which is http://rrtailoring.blogspot.com, and I’d like to redirect all general domain traffic to http://www.brassandmortar.com/category/journal/ , but I’d also like each individual posting to its corresponding post on my blog, which for the purpose of redirecting is fine being at the normal permalink. How do I configure it to do this?

Right now, all traffic is ending up on a bad 404, ie:
http://rrtailoring.blogspot.com/2011/01/yoohoo.html ends up at
http://www.brassandmortar.com/:/www.brassandmortar.com/yoohoo/

can you again copy the classic template to your blogger blog. see if that helps. Remember to use the classic template you need to revert your blog to classic template.

Hello! Thanks for this plug-in, everything went really well, except for the archive links. I checked the checkbox for redirecting the yyyy_mm_dd.html –> /yyyy/mm/ and when I try to hit any of the archives that google has indexed, I get a redirect back to the blog. Am I missing something about how this works?

Thanks for your help in advance!

can you post few of the URLs of your blogger archive so that I can have a look

does this work if I have a site setup as a subdomain blog.site.com in blogger and want to transfer it to subdirectory site.com/blog with wordpress? Just want to make sure it’s not only for site.blogspot.com urls. Thanks in advance.

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

yes it will work… You do not need this plugin only if you were using the same custom domain on blogger as on wordpress… Like example.com on blogger to example.com on wordpress

this worked great, thank you! Only other question – do I need to go into my webmaster tools for old subdomain (blog.site.com) and 301 redirect it to site.com/blog, or would this interfere with what I’ve already done using your plugin?

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

no it will not interfere……….

If I have a custom domain in blogger, but want to move my blog to a different domain in WordPress, can I use this plug-in to do that?

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

yes you can use this plugin for the redirection… Only one condition you don’t this plugin if you are migrating from xyz.com at blogger to xyz.com at wordpress i.e the domain name remains same

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

Its compatible will the latest version of WP

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

google recognises the redirection but it will take few months before google deindexes the old url and transfer the pagerank to the new url

Its the problem with the blogger import plugin which is unable to import before the your server times out.

Hi, thanks for plugin and the work!!

i think its working on my redirection blogger-worpdress, but instead of redirecting to the actual files on wordpress its all being redirecting to the local test i did at the beginning.
For instance: http://localhost:8888/wordpress/archives/346

Do you know how could I fix it? with the .htaccess? sorry, probably this question is beyond your limits.

thanks

when you change the blogger template with the new template generated on your wordpress site

• Elena

i use the new domain and there is nothing on it related to the local server

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

Replace the blogger template generated by your new domain for your blogger blog. Every time you change your domain you need to replace the blogger template too.

• Elena

thanks, i’ve done that, actually, i moved from local to server a few days ago. the links in the new blog work perfectly, nothing points to the local files anymore, only when i use this plugin, thats why i thought the .htacces might be the key point.

I know you have mentioned that you don’t need this plugin if You do not need this plugin only if “you were using the same custom domain on blogger as on wordpress… Like example.com on blogger to example.com on wordpress” but I am still struggling and still need a redirect because even though my urls all begin with the same domain because I already had a custom domain all my permalinks are different in WordPress because they don’t use Blogger’s weird permalink structure. Will this plugin not help with that? What do I do?

Hello- I’m trying to use this plug in to switch from Blogger to WP, but Blogger has completely removed the old interface, and when I try to enter the new code into the HTML template, I get a parse error. On the new edit HTML page, there isn’t an option to revert to classic template. Any helpful ideas?

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

the classic template is still available… Goto Templates (scroll to the bottom) > Click Revert to classic template

I did all the following, but when I checked my old url with a redirect tool, if everything went well, it told me that my old url returns a 200 (OK) response. PR N/A…I dont know what I did wrong or how I can fix this. maybe someone can help`?

• http://letusbuzz.com sudipto

the redirect tool should retun 200 because the redirection takes places on the client browser using javascript. There is no way that you can add do a 301 permanent redirection on blogger. All search engines can detect javascript redirection so over some period all blogger old url will be deindexed and your new sites url will be indexed by the search engines. But of course its a very slow process and takes months.
